Christmas Decorations for your 2017 Kitchen
Christmas Decorations for your 2017 Kitchen
When we think of Christmas decorations we usually think about the living room, dining room, outside the house and the garden. Maybe a bedroom or two, but rarely the kitchen. It’s a place of action and cooking, not usually of decoration; especially for a small one. However, there are so many ways you can bring Christmas into your kitchen. Maybe these ideas will help cheer you up as you slave over the Christmas meal.
There’s a lot of ideas, so let’s start the mega list:
1. Hang a wreath in the window
2. If your kitchen is big enough – have a tree in the corner
3. Add sparkles
4. Hang baubles from the ceilings
5. Put tinsel on door and draw knobs
6. Use seasonal crockery and utensils
7. Or go for rustic wood and ceramic items
8. Have oranges in your fruit bowl with pine cones and holly
9. Place wooden Christmas decorations in the window or on a side table/work surface
10. Set a Christmas table cloth
11. Go with seasonal colours like red and green
12. White, gold, and silver ornaments add wintry simplicity too
13. Have seasonal snacks around like mince pies, candy canes, chocolate coins
14. Infuse your kitchen with Christmas fragrances – food, candles, and so on
15. Have a Christmas bar with all the fun drinks
16. Bring nature into your home – pine cones, holly, mistletoe, leaves etc…
17. Create a natural, yule log
18. Bake your own Christmas Cake and have it on display, ready
19. Use wall letters to spell out Christmas cheer
20. Create a Christmas lantern for your table
21. Consider Scandinavian simplicity
22. Hang a star from the ceiling or from a door
23. Decorate your window frames with wreaths, tinsel, or other decorations
24. Add snowflake stickers to your kitchen windows
25. Hang tiny wreaths from your upper cabinet doors
26. Add a little whimsey to proceedings
27. Add a bauble chandelier
28. Go traditional
29. Or perhaps ultra modern with white or white and blue
30. Have Christmas themed kitchen towels, kitchen roll, cloths, aprons, and mitts
31. Make it a very you Christmas kitchen
That last one is perhaps the most important. It’s very easy to try and compete with neighbours or friends and family when decorating a place, and while it is nice to show off your home and kitchen every now and then, you have to live with your home on a daily basis. If you’re going to have your decorations up for most of December, then it is vital for your kitchen to be a place you want to spend time in. Let it reflect who you are as a person or as a whole family.
Indeed, if you have a new kitchen and a young family, this is the perfect time to start building your own traditions and style. Get the kids involved as much as possible when decorating your kitchen. Let them help decide what goes where (within reason of course) and what style you have. This’ll help them buy into your kitchen, and buy into your family Christmas as a whole.
